Alliance
Française was founded in Paris in 1883. Its aim is the
advancement of French language and culture throughout the world. There
are some 1,130 centers in about 140 countries and a total of 400,000
students. In Bangladesh. theres one Alliance in Dhaka, and a second
one in Chittagong.
Opened in 1959, Alliance Française de Dacca is one of the oldest
in Asia. It is housed in an exclusive, antiquated building, and has
an elegant and comfortable setting. Now in its premises students have
around 10 classrooms and a very beautiful multimedia library.
Academic Affairs
The teaching staff of AFD is comprised of about 15 experienced,, Bangladeshi
and French teachers who have all been specially trained in teaching
of French as a foreign language.
AFD takes in, in general, about 17 students per class in order to ensure
a personalized teaching and a genuine spoken coaching, the latter being
an objective prioritized by AFD.
